Common questions

Does cropping reduce image quality?

No — cropping just extracts the pixels inside your selection at their original resolution; nothing is scaled or resampled. PNG output stays lossless. JPEG and WebP go through their normal re-encoding step, same as opening and re-saving any image in that format.

What's the difference between this and Image Resizer?

Image Resizer changes the whole image to new pixel dimensions (scaling it). This tool removes everything outside a region you select, keeping that region at its original resolution — cropping and resizing are different operations, and you can use both together if you need to.

Can I crop to a specific aspect ratio like 1:1 or 16:9?

Yes — pick a preset (1:1, 4:3, 3:2, 16:9, or 9:16) and your selection reshapes to match, or drag freely with "Free" selected. The exact pixel size of your current selection is shown live as you drag.

Can I type an exact pixel size instead of dragging?

Not in this version — selection is drag-and-resize only, with the resulting size shown live so you can fine-tune by eye. If you need an exact final size after cropping, run the result through Image Resizer.
