Common questions
What metadata does this tool actually read?
The common tags people care about before sharing a photo: camera make/model, orientation, date/time, exposure settings (shutter speed, aperture, ISO, focal length), and GPS location if present. It reads JPEG's EXIF segment specifically — the full EXIF spec has hundreds of maker-specific tags this tool doesn't attempt to cover, and PNG/WebP store metadata differently so they may show little or nothing here even if they do carry some.
Does "remove metadata" also work on images that show nothing above?
Yes. Removing metadata re-encodes the image from scratch, which strips EXIF, ICC color profiles, and other embedded data regardless of format — it's a safe action to take even if this tool didn't detect or display anything specific for your file.
Will the downloaded copy look any different?
Visually, no — pixels are redrawn at the exact original dimensions with no cropping, resizing, or filtering. The file itself is freshly re-encoded, so its exact byte size will differ slightly from the original (and JPEG re-encoding is technically lossy, though at full quality the difference is not visible).
Is the GPS location shown here accurate?
It's read directly from the coordinates your camera or phone embedded in the file — this tool doesn't estimate or guess it. If a location appears, that's the exact spot the device recorded, decoded straight from the file's own data.
