Common questions
Does this use AI or analyze my brand/design to suggest colors?
No — each palette type applies a fixed, well-known color-wheel formula to your base color (for example, complementary rotates the hue exactly 180°, triadic places three hues 120° apart). These are the same geometric relationships found in any color theory reference, not a learned or AI-generated suggestion.
What do the palette type names actually mean geometrically?
Each is a fixed rotation around the color wheel from your base hue: complementary is the opposite hue (180° away); analogous is two neighboring hues (30° either side); triadic is three hues 120° apart; tetradic is four hues 90° apart; and monochromatic keeps the same hue and saturation but steps the lightness up and down instead of changing the hue at all.
Why does my monochromatic palette look compressed at one end for a very dark or light base color?
Because the lightness steps are clamped to the valid 0-100% range rather than shifted — a near-black base color can't have a swatch darker than near-black, so that end of the palette naturally compresses instead of drifting away from the color you actually entered.
