Common questions
How is this different from GPA Calculator?
GPA Calculator averages your grades across multiple courses, weighted by each course's credit hours, into a single cumulative GPA. Grade Calculator computes the final weighted score for one subject or exam, from its individual graded items (like homework, midterms, and a final) and how much each one counts toward the total. They answer different questions and don't share a calculation.
How is the weighted grade calculated?
Each item's score is multiplied by its weight, those are added together, then divided by the total weight you entered: Σ(score × weight) / Σ(weight). This means a 40%-weighted final counts four times as much as a 10%-weighted quiz.
What if my weights don't add up to 100%?
The result is still calculated correctly using the actual weights you entered — the calculator divides by your real total weight, not a fixed 100. A note appears letting you know your weights don't sum to 100%, in case that was a mistake, but it won't block your result.
What grading scale is used for the letter grade?
The standard US percentage scale with plus/minus grades (97+=A+, 93-96=A, 90-92=A-, down to below 60=F). Grading scales vary by school and instructor, so treat the letter grade as a close estimate rather than an official one.
