Why is temperature conversion different from the other unit converters?
Because it isn't a simple multiplication like length or weight. Celsius and Fahrenheit each have their own zero point that doesn't line up with each other or with Kelvin, so converting between them needs both a scale and an offset, not a single conversion factor.
Is Kelvin's zero point the same as Celsius's or Fahrenheit's?
No — 0 Kelvin (absolute zero) is −273.15°C and −459.67°F. Kelvin is the only one of the three with a true physical zero point; Celsius and Fahrenheit's zero points are arbitrary reference marks, not absolute zero.
